Chapter 2:Ride up the Coast

After almost a week of resting the ankle in Salida, CO I caught a ride with a compassionate, understanding, and all around, good friend. Thank you comes from the deepest part of my heart.

We stuffed the VW wagon with my gear and tied the bicycle, which has been dubbed, Moby, to the roof using more rope than needed, but that bad boy wasn’t going anywhere. It was chosen the name Moby because of my sailor type beanie and a growing beard.  I was playfully called captain Ahab, a few or more times. A sea cowboy.  We drove to Grand Junction that night.  I couldn’t wait until morning so we could cover even more ground.

Morning came soon enough, pounded down a big breakfast and hit the highway once again. The ride to California was full of beautiful colors, a race down a hill that resulted in two injuries, nothing major. I would like to point out, that you shouldnt fall on a cactus and bees are dangerous even in the desert.  DCIM100GOPRODCIM100GOPRO20141009_08173620141009_07573720141009_075754

We stopped near St.George, UT and hiked a short trail to where the Anasazi once lived. They left behind petroglyphs on some of the giant rock surface. It was a calm, and deep touch to history.

Fifteen hours, and countless songs and laughs later, we arrived in Yosemite National Park at almost midnight. A nice rest followed by a good breakfast and three cups of coffee, we hiked up a trail that led us to a couple of waterfalls and breathtaking scenery.

The two days spent getting to San Francisco were more than I could have asked for. Great company and wonderful views. It was the greatest halftime show I could ever be a part of.  I have more pictures to post when I get more time.  As for right now I need to load Moby with the gear and see about a new phone.

Chapter 2: The ride up the coast, begins today. Golden Gate bridge, that should be a great ride.

Stay alive, be free.

Talk to you soon
