Dear Steve Martin

Mr.Martin, my name is Jeffry Tate. Just short of two years ago, I bought my first banjo. This happened after years of not picking up an instrument with the intent to really learn it. I’ve since upgraded to an OB250 and I havent been able to put it down. I don’t want to take too much of your time, so I’ll get to the point. I would like the opportunity to study under you. Now, I am 32 year old Journeyman Plumber from Lincoln Nebraska. I’m no banjo prodigy, but I’ve learned a lot in the past year and a half, and I am ready for the next step. I play it every single day and feel bad when I miss a day of it.  I would give every ounce of energy I possibly could if this were to happen. I completely understand that you’re a busy man, but I would really like the chance. I will give my heart and soul for this banjo of mine, either way, but to learn from a player of your caliber is something that not a lot of people get to do. To me personally, the way I approach this with focus and drive is what puts me in a great position to be a great student. I would even be willing to meet at some point and discuss in person. I can’t stress enough how badly I want to be a great banjo player. As I said before, I am ready to tackle it head on and with absolute focus. I know this letter was a little all over the place, but it’s all from the heart. I hope to hear from you soon.

Jeffry Tate
