I don’t like asking for handouts and I hope that’s not what most think when they see this button. I’ve always felt that if somebody is able and willing to help another person, they most certainly should.  I’ve always got enjoyment out of being able to help my friends and family, maybe not with money but with my knowledge and hard work for labor intensive jobs. It feels good helping people out.

I put this Donate button on my site to not only help me get to Portland and to help get settled when I get there but also I thought it would be a good idea to donate 35% of the donations received to two local, non-profit organizations , one in my hometown in Lincoln, NE and one in Portland, OR.

I thought this would be a great idea because Lincoln has been good to me my whole life and I would love to help make it grow in any way I can, and the non-profit organization in Portland, because I hope it to be my new home and a good way to start anew. Sort of a thank you to Portland, when I arrive.

All of my belongings that I am not taking on the bicycle trip and that I have no need for anymore are going to the local Lincoln City Mission Drop Box, near my home. The way I see it, is that, if I haven’t used it in 6 months, why do I have it? Somebody else can be getting more uses out of it than I was.

This trip is meant to have a good vibe the whole time. People helping people, is a great way for humans to feel even more connected to one another. Thank you for your donations and I can’t wait to see you Portland.
